Recovery Mode Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 14, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to Recovery Mode (the “App”). Your privacy is critically important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use Recovery Mode. By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:
Personal Information Provided by You
- Account Information: Name, email address, login credentials, and profile details (such as profile photo where you choose to add one).
- Recovery and Wellness Information: Recovery-related check-ins, reflections, goals, preferences, and similar content you enter in the App.
- Care and Support Context: Information you share to coordinate support, including communications with your care team where those features are enabled.
Contacts and Communication
- Contacts (optional): Names and contact details you select when using recovery or emergency-style contact features.
- In-App Messages: Messages and related metadata sent or received through App messaging, where available.
- Notifications: Delivery and interaction data for push notifications and reminders you opt into.
Sensitive and Device-Related Information
- Location Data: Approximate and/or precise location when Recovery Mode or related safety features are active. When you grant permission, location is processed in the foreground and/or background for safe-zone lookup and safety workflows. Location-derived signals (such as zone classification) are used to power those features.
- Camera and Microphone (optional): Used when you start or join user-initiated live video or audio sessions with your care team through LiveKit. The App does not continuously access the camera or microphone in the background outside features you explicitly start.
- Photos / Media (where used): Images or files you choose to attach or share through supported features.
Technical and Service Data
- Device and Diagnostics: Device type, operating system, app version, identifiers needed for authentication or push notifications, and limited log, crash, or performance data to keep the App reliable and secure.
Third-Party Services and Integrations
The App sends your information to or processes it through the following services so features work as designed:
- Supabase (Supabase Inc.): User sign-in, application database, and file storage. Account credentials, profile and recovery data, care-team and messaging content you sync, and uploads such as profile images are stored and processed in Supabase.
- Google Firebase (Firebase Cloud Messaging): Push notifications. Google processes device tokens, notification payloads, and delivery data required to send alerts to your device.
- LiveKit (LiveKit Cloud): Realtime video and audio when you join a live session. LiveKit receives and routes your media streams for the duration of the session.
- Groq (Groq, Inc.) and our application backend servers: When you use transcription, AI-generated explanations, or voice or AI sessions over WebSocket, the App sends audio, text, location (for safe-zone and related APIs), and session data to Groq’s API and/or to HTTPS and WebSocket endpoints on servers we operate. Those systems process the data to return transcriptions, model output, safe-zone results, and session responses.
Note: If we introduce paid or subscription features, payment information is processed by Google Play or Apple in-app purchase (or another authorized processor we disclose at that time). We do not store your full payment card details on our own servers. You manage or cancel subscriptions through your app store account, subject to store policies.
How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information to:
- Provide App functionality, including accounts, recovery tools, Recovery Mode and related safety workflows, messaging, and notifications.
- Facilitate optional live audio/video sessions you initiate with your care team.
- Deliver reminders, alerts, and service messages you request or that are necessary to operate the App.
- Improve reliability, performance, and security, and to detect, prevent, or address misuse or technical issues.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
Data Retention and Deletion
Account and synced App content: Retained while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce terms, and meet legal or regulatory requirements.
Location: Processed when you enable Recovery Mode, safe zones, and related features. We do not use location to build advertising profiles. We retain location-related records only as long as needed for the feature, security, or legal compliance.
Optional recordings or session artifacts: If a feature stores session recordings or similar media, retention depends on the feature and your account settings; you may be able to delete certain content in the App where supported.
Contacts: Contact selections may be stored on your device, on our systems, or both, depending on the feature. You can remove or change contacts within the App where the feature allows it.
Account Deletion
You can request to delete your account through the App settings or by contacting us as described below. When you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal information associated with your account within a reasonable period (typically on the order of days), except where we must retain certain information to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
